Course Program

In the morning participants receive instrument-specific tuition from expert teachers. In the afternoon the participants have the chance to play together in a range of combinations. These combinations will be chosen according to the musical preferences and ability of the musicians, thereby ensuring that each participant can make the most of the jazz workshop.

Über Jeanfrançois Prins

 

The belgian Jazz guitarist Jeanfrançis Prins was born in Brussels. At age 17, Prins started playing music as a self-taught improviser.

At age 19, Prins was already leading his own professional band, performing his original tunes and arrangements. In 1991, he graduated as a Sound Engineer from the world famous I.N.S.A.S. School for Performing Arts in Brussels, Belgium. The same year, he was awarded the First Price for Instrumental Performance at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles.

Jeanfrançois recorded five CDs as a leader, and is also featured as a soloist and accompanist on a large nuber of recordings with Toots Thielemans, Lee Konitz, Kenny Wheeler, Peter Herbolzheimer, Jay Clayton, Judy Niemack, Randy Brecker and many others.

For over 10 years he leaded the Jazz guitar Department of Berlin's Music Universitys, and gives workshops and master-classes in Europe and U.S.Jeanfrançois also writes original music for movie soundtracks as well as television (for example for the Discovery Channel in 2000, and the short-film “Coriolis” in 2008).
